The experience of service leadership is the primary objective of Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs. The service-club experience prepares people to become the most engaged members of their communities – now and in the future.
Serve
Aktion Clubs provide opportunities for members to discover that service is an exciting and important new part of their lives. They begin to see their own ability to make a difference, explore their passions and convictions, and develop their empathy with people in need.
Lead
Every person has leadership potential. Aktion Club helps members fulfill it – giving them a chance to step forward when the easier choice might have been to stand still. Members begin to grow into their identities as leaders and develop the ability to move an idea into purposeful action. Each year the district committee hosts an Aktion Club Retreat.
Engage
Through service leadership, a member lives a life of collaboration rather than isolation. Aktion Club helps members see that collaboration is crucial-enhancing their ability to build both strong connections through face-to-face interaction and coalitions that address community needs.
Jacksonville Kiwanis Club is proud to announce it has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Kiwanis Children’s Fund to support a community wellness initiative at Buckner Park. The grant funds were combined with additional funds raised over the years through the Club’s annual Kiwanis Shootout fundraiser which made it possible to purchase new commercial grade outdoor fitness equipment for the community.
The project was completed in partnership with JEDCO and the City of Jacksonville, whose assistance helped bring the vision to life. The newly installed equipment is designed for all fitness levels, providing families with a free, accessible way to stay active and promote healthy lifestyles together.
Located adjacent to the existing playground at Buckner Park, the fitness area allows parents and caregivers to exercise while children play nearby. Kids are also encouraged to join in, making fitness a fun and family friendly experience.
The Jacksonville Kiwanis Club welcomes new members and meets every Thursday at 12:00 p.m. in the conference room at the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. Meetings often include guest speakers or presentations highlighting community programs supported by the club. The organization also proudly sponsors and works closely with the Jacksonville High School Key Club.
